Simon Horman
Simon Horman,
VA Linux Systems Japan

My name is Simon Horman, though most people call me Horms. I am from Sydney, Australia. I live in Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan where I work for VA Linux Systems Japan. Previously I spent some time living in San Francisco, New York and Silicon Valley in the USA, during which time I worked for VA Linux Systems, Inc.

For most of my professional career I have worked with Open Source and Free Software, initially as a system administrator, and then as a programmer. I mainly work with networking, as I think the way that this brings people together is really interesting. However, more recently I have been doing more work on the Linux kernel and Xen. I work with free and open source software because I believe that it breaks down barriers to people accessing technology, and makes better technology by allowing any interested party to audit or improve the code.

My main focus for development of Xen at this time is porting kexec from Linux to allow soft reboots from Xen, and crash dump analysis of both domain 0 and the hypervisor using kdump.
