Education: Diploma of physics, Julius-Maximilians-Universitä t Würzburg
Xen Involvement: My first contact with Xen was in 2005 when I suggested
to use Xen as the virtualisation platform for Fujitsu's mainframe OS BS2000
on IA64, as Xen was the only available hypervisor for IA64 at this time. The
BS2000 on IA64 project was stopped immediately after we succeeded in
booting BS2000 as a Xen guest.
The successor project was BS2000 on x86-64 and we continued using
Xen, as we had learned using an open source hypervisor is a very good
idea in case you need additional features. This decision was proved to
be correct when we discovered some short-comings of the Xen scheduler
and introduced cpupools in Xen, for which I'm the maintainer.
